Soprano vocal range: C4 to C6
A trained soprano typically sings from C4 to C6, two octaves. Most people who sing for fun use a narrower comfortable range inside that, often around D4 to A5.
How to tell if you're a soprano
Voice type is mostly about where your voice sits comfortably, not the single highest note you can reach. Measure your lowest and highest easy notes; the type whose range has the closest middle is your most likely fit. Neighbouring types overlap a lot: mezzo-soprano (A3–A5).
Warm-ups for sopranos
- Vocal warm-up for sopranos (D4–A5): high notes without straining
- Vocal warm-up for sopranos (D4–A5): singing in tune
- Choir warm-up for sopranos (D4–A5)
Ranges: typical ranges of trained voices (McKinney, The Diagnosis and Correction of Vocal Faults). Our range test reads E2–C6.
